THE SIX OF CUPS is the introspective journey of Hudson Wiley, a “well-seasoned” gentleman who confronts the profound absence of a loved one and the concept of mortality.

The story follows Hudson, an elderly man who wants to find peace and acceptance regarding his past regrets and the loss of his wife, Corina. His major obstacle is represented by his estranged son, Tim, whose unresolved issues with Hudson create tension and distance between them.

The unexpected plot twist occurs when Hudson discovers a series of letters written to him by Corina before her death that reveal hidden truths about their relationship and provide guidance on how to mend his bond with Tim. This revelation leads Hudson towards healing both within himself and in his family relationships.

THE SIX OF CUPS explores themes of grief, memory, and regret while contemplating the meaning of life and the afterlife, and the choices he makes along the journey. The narrative uses personal mementos and evocative settings— a dusty study, torn photographs, a symbolic empty chair— to illustrate the weight of loss and the bittersweet nature of remembrance, along with the dual-edged clarity brought on by the recognition of his own mortality.

Hudson Wiley lived well... will he die the same?

What a beautiful story! If you've ever experienced love, loss, regret, joy, fear or parenthood, you'll love The Six of Cups. Cattie's writing is so insightful and detailed that you'll truly be placed in the character's world. You'll SEE, HEAR and FEEL so many things along the way. I felt myself nodding in understanding of so many events in this poignant life story. It left me with many emotions, and many thoughts to ponder. This a new genre for the author, and he nails it.
